188 - Shared Xmas Universe (feat. Alexei Toliopoulos & Marcel Blanch-de Wilt!)

This week, we're joined by our very good friends Alexei Toliopoulos (Blank Slate Movie Podcast!) and Marcel Blanch-de Wilt (Marcel's Best Friends Club!) for our fourth annual Xmas Xtravaganza! We talk about our ideal gifts (then exchange Shitmas gifts instead), meet holiday characters Traditional Santa, Cool Santa and Geoffrey Claus-Toliopoulos. Plus, we play an exciting game of That Sounds Good, What's That About? in which we explore an Avengers-style shared-universe Christmas movie!

MUSIC USED:
SSJ Xmas Theme 2.0: Xavier Rubetzki Noonan
Chris Farren's Disney's Frozen (ft. Sean Bonnette & Anika Pyle): Chris Farren
TSGWTA Theme: Xavier Rubetzki Noonan
FEATURE TRACK:
This week, we're featuring another track by New York band Pupppy, who we previously featured on Episode 160. We loved their album Shit In The Apple Pie so much we named the episode after it, but it only occurred to me recently that the record was hiding a really fantastic, melancholic, anxious Christmas song - one which would fit in really well on our weird podcast. If you like it, you should grab the whole album for pay-what-you-want on Bandcamp!

187 - Lost In... (feat. David Noble!)

This week, we're joined by special guest David Noble, with whom we discuss having a lot of CDs, playing the drums, and out-there advertising. Plus, we come up with a vibrant new advertising campaign for the podcast, meet Dave's parents, and play an exciting round of That Sounds Good, What's That About?
Disclaimer: We were doing really well at pretending we didn't record this episode well in advance... until we accidentally talked a whole bunch about the new Star Wars movie we hadn't seen yet. Oops.

MUSIC USED:
SSJ Theme 3000: Xavier Rubetzki Noonan
His Dick Is Bigger Than Mine: All My Alien Sex Friends
TSGWTA Theme: Xavier Rubetzki Noonan
FEATURE TRACK:
Dave was nice enough to share some tracks from his band All My Alien Sex Friends with us this week, and so you better be nice enough to follow through and check out some more! This week we feature the band's newest single, I Luv u (Feat. Jake Dobson), which you can find all sorts of places including Soundcloud & Unearthed, plus you can check out the All My Alien Sex Friends EP while you're there!

186 - Know Where To Bee (feat. Kate Coates & Fran Middleton!)

This week, we're joined by the hilarious Kate Coates and Fran Middleton, who introduce us to their friends, journalists Leigh Sales and Kerry O'Brien, and then stick around to discuss cats, artificial intelligence, and dental Christmas miracles. Plus, we play an exciting round of That Sounds Good, What's That About? where we explore "Know Where To Bee: A Silent Musical In 3B".

MUSIC USED:
SSJ Theme 3000: Xavier Rubetzki Noonan
Nowhere To Be: SPORTS
TSGWTA Theme: Xavier Rubetzki Noonan
FEATURE TRACK:
We are stoked to be playing songs by SPORTS this week. The young Ohio pop-punk band's 2014 debut 'Sunchokes' has been on high rotation at SSJ HQ since we first heard it earlier this year, and its newly-released follow-up, 'All Of Something', is every bit as satisfying (if not more!) We're featuring the irresistible Reality TV from the new record, but if you want to hear more, head to SPORTS' Bandcamp page!

185 - SSJ 4th Birthday Cliptacular!

This week, we celebrate 4 years since our first episode by looking back at the best moments from the past year of Something Something Joystick! That's right, we've put together ten hand-picked Magic Moments to show off the very best that we can be. But is it good enough? You be the judge!

FEATURE TRACKS:
In the spirit of celebration, we've chosen a couple of extra tracks from artists we've already featured on the podcast this year. We just can't get enough!
Natalie Prass - Bird of Prey, from her debut self-titled album, available at natalieprassmusic.com/
PUP - Dark Days, from their debut self-titled album, available at puptheband.bandcamp.com/
